Memory loss causes language impairment as well, so it becomes difficult to communicate.  Other symptoms that arise from memory loss include a state of confusion or distress.

Another misconception which people have about Dementia is that it’s a disease. The truth is, it’s not. For a long time, Dementia has been confused with being a whole disease in itself and treated as such, but the reality is not so similar.

Dementia is an umbrella term under which symptoms like memory loss, language impairment, etc. comes. It results from diseases in the brain, out of which Alzheimer’s disease is of significance.

Brain diseases affect cognitive functions in the human body, making it prone to lose memory, bodily functions, and general basic living conditions. All this disrupts a person’s life and makes them dependent on the assistance of other people.

With this being said, Dementia is not a term rather a Symptom Caused by other Brain Diseases.

3 Stages of Dementia:

Dementia has seven stages, which range from zero cognitive decline to very severe cognitive decline. The zero cognitive decline includes no memory loss or memory impairment, whereas severe cognitive decline means complete or a huge chunk of memory loss.

The mild, moderate, and severe terms are used to measure the severity of memory and the degrees of cognitive impairment in humans suffering from Dementia. These stages depend on age, brain diseases that cause Dementia, and other neurological conditions.

All these factors combined determine the stage of Dementia in a person and decide its severity from zero to very severe.
